Óskar Steindórsson
Owner and CEO of Leiguhysi.is
Óskar is a certified Paramedic and Firefighter and has worked as such in the capital area for the past 22 years. He also holds an International IMPA certification as a Project Manager. Leiguhysi.is is a project he started in early 2025 that has evolved from an idea into a company with dealership from a major foreign trailer manufacturer in a short time.
The idea for the company was born from his passion for outdoor activities with family, Icelandic nature, and camping. Many Icelanders are unaware of the weight restrictions on trailers and drive on Iceland's roads with overweight units without having a BE-license, the so-called trailer license. This involves costs and at least 4 driving lessons which is unnecessary just to rent a caravan and explore our beautiful Iceland for one or two weeks a year.
Leiguhysi.is now offers Icelanders caravans that are under 750kg total permitted weight, so anyone with a regular driver's license can go camping worry-free and do so at an affordable price.
Life is short, it should be fun, and therefore every opportunity to create good memories should be seized.
